Stain Tip:

Cleaning Red Wine Spills

Mix one tablespoon of mild carpet detergent (Dawn liquid soap works best), 1/3 cup of white vinegar and 2/3 cup water. Remove excess material from carpet by absorbing liquids and scraping semi-solids. Apply solution. Blot the carpet and gently brush the pile. Apply many layers of toweling over the affected area. Weigh down. Leave until dry.

Tile & Grout Cleaning

Tile and grout cleaning has been added to our services in 2002.  We have purchased many types of equipment to aid in this process and with the proper compound applied, outstanding results are achieved and the luster of your stone is restored back to its original color.  We offer a free demonstration, inspection and estimate on this service.

WE DO NOT FIX OR COLOR MATCH MISSING GROUT.

>Q.  What are the two types of grout available?
>A.  There are two types of grout, sanded and non-sanded.  Non-sanded grout is used on    grout joints 1/8 of an inch or less.  Sanded grout is used is used on joints 1/8 of an inch or larger.  Sanded grout offers more strength to the joints and is often the preferred grout used by contractors.  However, this type usually accumulates the most dirt and grime in the joints because the grout is very porous.  Because of the porous nature of this grout, dirt accumulation without the proper equipment is nearly impossible to restore to its original luster.

>Q.  What is the first step?
>A.  Identification and proper inspection is required before starting the job.  We are looking at the grout joints in particular to make sure they will withstand the cleaning process.  If pieces of grout are loose or missing it may not be cleanable.  Properly installed grout should last a lifetime.  The most common problem we encounter is loose grout which has been improperly installed.  Either the wrong type of grout is used, to much water or not enough water is the likely cause, these elements are most critical in proper curing.

>Q.  What is the cleaning process?
>A.  If the grout passed inspection we first apply the correct MB stone product to match the stone.  We will sometimes use an oxygenated booster to aid in the cleaning process.  We will give ample dwell time for the solution to work before high power rinsing it off.  As you can see below, it is a much more thorough method than doing it with a brush.  The high powered hot solution cleans the dirt right out of the pores.  We then put a solvent based sealer (highly recommended but not required) in the grout joints to prevent dirt accumulation.  With proper maintence, your floor should last anywhere from 1-3 years before another cleaning process is needed.  Floors are safe to walk on approximately one hour upon completion. Pricing starts at $1.00 a square foot for cleaning and sealing is .75 cents a square foot

These are recent before and after jobs completed in 2003.
